Faculty of Management, Tribhuvan University, has decided to review its decision of giving approval to certain private colleges to begin the four-year Bachelors in Business Management programme from the new academic session which is going to begin in mid-November.

At a meeting held with representatives from Nepal Private College Association on Thursday, acting Vice-chancellor Prof Guna Nidhi Neupane expressed his commitment to review the earlier decision.

Out of hundreds of applicants, only a few colleges were selected by the Faculty of Management not on the basis of the quality of education they provide, but nepotism and favouritism, alleged Devi Ghimire, NPCA vice president.

“We talked to the acting VC Neupane on Thursday and he has pledged to review the decision,” Ghimire added. He further said Neupane had asked them to submit their reasons for dissatisfaction in written form tomorrow.

“We are likely to hold another round of meeting with the faculty of management officials next week to review the decision,” he added.

He further said that only 14 colleges had been selected by the faculty for approval to run the BBM programme, but after pressure from the association to correct the decision, it had increased the number of colleges to 28.

“We want to end the monopoly of certain colleges over new courses,” he said.
