Position: AML/CFT & Compliance Officer – Junior Officer
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented, and responsible AML/CFT & Compliance Officer – Junior Officer to support the organization in implementing Anti-Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) requirements and broader regulatory compliance activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the implementation, review, and enhancement of AML/CFT policies, procedures, controls, and compliance frameworks in line with regulatory requirements.
- Conduct KYC, CDD, and EDD reviews, including customer/investor identification, beneficial ownership verification, source of funds/wealth assessment, and documentation review.
- Perform sanctions, PEP, adverse media, and watchlist screening, and assess AML/CFT risks related to customers, transactions, products, services, and business activities, and escalate risks as required.
- Ensure AML/CFT compliance across Merchant Banking, Asset Management, Specialized Investment Funds, and Private Equity Funds while maintaining accurate KYC records, risk classifications, legal documents, and compliance records.
- Support preparation and submission of AML/CFT, regulatory, compliance, management, and audit reports to relevant authorities and stakeholders.
- Monitor regulatory updates from SEBON, NRB, FIU-Nepal, and other authorities, and assist in updating internal policies and compliance practices.
- Support compliance risk assessments, internal audits, regulatory inspections, gap analysis, and implementation of corrective actions across departments.
- Coordinate with internal teams for information collection, verification, reporting, remediation, and follow-up on outstanding KYC documents and regulatory requirements.
- Support AML/CFT training, employee awareness programs, record management, confidentiality, document retention, and maintenance of compliance trackers.
- Perform other AML/CFT and compliance-related responsibilities assigned by Management.
Specification
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in law, Finance, Business Administration, Management, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.
- Experience: 1–3 years of relevant professional experience in AML/CFT, compliance, banking, capital markets, investment management, merchant banking, or a related financial-sector role.
Knowledge and Competencies
- Basic to good understanding of Nepal’s AML/CFT laws, regulations, directives, and regulatory framework.
- Knowledge of KYC, CDD, EDD, beneficial ownership identification, PEP screening, sanctions screening, adverse media screening, and customer risk assessment.
- Familiarity with Nepal’s financial and capital market regulatory environment, particularly requirements issued by SEBON, NRB, and FIU-Nepal.
- Understanding of Merchant Banking, Asset Management, Specialized Investment Funds, and Private Equity Funds will be an advantage.
- Ability to carefully review legal, financial, and compliance documents and identify missing information, inconsistencies, unusual activities, and potential compliance risks.
