Top schools, colleges honoured

The International Literacy Day-2015 and the 36th National Education Day-2072 were observed today by organising various programmes across the country.

The slogan for International Literacy Day this year is ‘Literacy and Sustainable Societies,’ while the slogan for 36th National Education Day is ‘Quality education for sustainable development, Safe educational institution for all.’Various educational organisations held literacy awareness rally in the morning.

Meanwhile, President Ram Baran Yadav conferred awards on various persons who achieved various educational titles from national and international educational institutions.

President Yadav conferred Nepal Bidhyabhusan ‘Ka’ category on 141 people for acquiring PhD degree from national and international institutions.

He conferred Nepal Bidhyabhusan ‘Kha’ category on 74 people for scoring highest marks in various subjects in Master’s degree and Nepal Bidhybhusan ‘Ga’ on 14 persons for scoring highest marks in Bachelor’s level in various subjects.

He also conferred Nepal Chhatra Padak on 31 girls, who topped the Bachelor’s level, and eight girls, who topped the Proficiency Certificate Level.

In another programme organised by the Ministry ofEducation in the afternoon here today, the ministry awarded 13 best schools from across the country.

Kathmandu-based Yuba Sahabhagita Secondary School received the national award from among community schools and Lalitpur-based Nightangle Secondary School from among institutional private schools. The national award carries a purse of Rs 200,000 and a shield.

Likewise, Okhaldhunga-based Baruneshwor Higher Secondary School from the eastern region, Kathmandu-based Tarun Secondary School from central, Rupendehi-based Kanti Higher Secondary School from western, Jumla-based Bhairab Secondary school from mid-western and Kailali-based Samaiji Higher Secondary School from far-western region received the regional award from among community schools.

Biratnagar-based Bal Kalyan Bidhya Mandir from eastern region, Kathmandu-based The Excelsior School from central, Kaski-based Gandaki Boarding Secondary School from western, Dang-based Tulsi Boarding Secondary School from mid-western and Kanchanpur-based International Public Higher Secondary School from far-western region bagged the regional award from among institutional schools.

Jumla-based Rahadev Secondary School received special award as the best community school from amongschools in the remote areas of the country. The regional and special award carries a purse of Rs 100,000 and a shield.

From this year, MoE has started awarding best technical schools affiliated to the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training and best colleges across the country.

MoE handed over the best technical school award to Morang-based Manmohan Memorial Polytechnique Institute, Kathmandu-based Kathmandu Model Hospital School of Nursing, Kaski-based Manipal Ganesh School of Medical Science, Banke-based Bheri Technical School and Doti-based Seti Technical School. These technical schools received Rs 25,000 each.
