The Office of the Prime Minister (PMO) has directed the Ministry of Education (MoE) to submit the progress report regarding suspension of Narayan Sharma as one of the five candidates for the post of principal of Buddhanilkantha School as directed by the National Vigilance Centre (NVC) on August 12.

The PMO has directed the MoE to produce the report within seven days in the context of Sharma´s selection in top five candidates by the Buddhanilkantha School principal selection committee on Wednesday.

“As the NVC had asked to implement its decision on the basis of Prevention on Corruption Act 2002, what is the latest update in the process to suspend Sharma from the school?” the PMO issuing a statement said.

The selection committee on Wednesday had short listed the controversial principal Sharma in the top five among 15 candidates, arguing that Sharma had performaned well in the exam to be included in the list.

Meanwhile, the school´s staff union also condemned the committee´s decision to include Sharma in top five. “The committee has violated the rule of law. We are planning to move the Supreme Court to challenge this choice,” said Devendra Singh, secretary of Buddhanilkanta School staff union.

Apart from the charges on misuse of authority in the school, Sharma is also alleged of presenting fake documents for pension from Mahakali Devi Secondary School in Lalitpur.

The former principal Beni Bahadur KC of the local school had also filed complaint at the NVC producing the evidene to prove that Sharma had never been a part of his school.
