Nawalparasi: All Nepal National Independent Students Union (ANNISU)-Revolutionary affiliated to the CPN-Maoist have closed all private schools in Nawalparasi on Tuesday.

Nawalparasi Chairman of ANNISU-R evolutionary, Ashok Gyawali, said that they closed all the private schools in the district, as the agreement reached among the District Education Office (DEO), Private and Boarding Schools Organisation Nepal ( PABSON ), students and stakeholders was not implemented.

ANNISU-R evolutionary has launched agitation demanding action against 60 private schools running illegally in the district. The District Education Office on May 2 had reached an agreement with stakeholders including ANNISU-R evolutionary to close such schools.

It alleged the DEO of not paying any heed to implement the agreement. The District Education office, however, said that it has started the process to take action against such schools.

Nawalparasi Chairman of PABSON , Bhim Lal Adhikari, said that it was wrong to close private schools running as per the policy. Around 35,000 students have been affected due to the closure of private schools in the district.
