Fifty-four students have returned home after receiving 10-month training on agriculture in Israel.

The students, who had left for Israel for agriculture training at the joint initiation of Sana Kisan Bikas Bank and Israeli Embassy in Nepal, shared their knowledge and experiences at a press meet organized in the capital on Friday morning.

Speaking at the press conference, the students called for mechanization of the farming system and stressed that no tax should be imposed on agricultural machines and equipments while importing while subsidized loan should be made available for agriculture-based projects.

They further suggested that a farmer should focus on only one crop using scientific and high-tech tools and machines rather than growing more crops as in the traditional farming system.

Jalan Kumar Sharma, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Sana Kisan  Bikas Bank, congratulated all the students for returning home after receiving training successfully.

Speaking at the function, Agriculture Secretary Jaya Mukunda Khanal said, “We are proud to see our students to have returned after receiving training successfully unlike in the past  when they used to hide in the country illegally.

Fifty four students from two districts - Dhading and Makawanpur - have returned home while 205 students sent from eight districts have been currently receiving training at various training centers and colleges in Israel, informed CEO Jalan Kumar Sharma.

A preparation is underway to send additional 515 students from 21 districts to Israel for agriculture training, added CEO Sharma.
