Under Connecting Classroom Project, the British Council Nepal (BCN) awarded International School Award (ISA) to 11 Nepali schools and reaccredited two schools, states a BCN press release. The programme was held on September 15. The Award is endorsed and supported by the Ministry of Education.

Twenty-five schools from eight districts of Nepal had submitted their dossier out of 100 schools initially working on ISA. Full Award is granted to 11 schools out of these 25 dossier submissions. Two schools that were awarded in 2012 were accredited again for ISA awards this year, the release states.

The schools that received the ISA stamp are Kathmandu English School, Creative Academy, Kirtipur, Akshara School, Kathmandu, Reliance Co-Ed, Kathmandu, Spiral Galaxy HS School, Kaski, Palpa Awasiya HS School, Motherland Higher Secondary School, Kaski, New Horizon HS School, Palpa, Shree Punya HS School, Dhankuta, Paragon Academy, Jhapa, and Padmodaya Public Model HS School, Dang.

The reaccredited schools are Annal Jyoti School, Kathmandu, and Gurukul Academy, Dhangadhi.

This is the fourth year that Nepali schools have been awarded through this award scheme, states the release.

The award was handed over by special guests Katherine Smitton, Deputy Head of Mission, British Embassy in Kathmandu, and Narahari Aryal, Deputy Director, Depart of Education. Both the special guests congratulated the winners and shared the importance of being global citizens in today’s time.

The ISA is given to a school on the basis of nurturing global citizenship in young people and enriching teaching and learning. The schools receiving the full award will be provided with a trophy and certificates, and will be allowed to use the coveted ISA kite mark along with their school logo on all official stationery and promotional materials for a period of three years.
