Position: Assistant Manager - QEHS
Job Description
- Ensure full compliance with Occupational Health & Safety (OHS), environmental regulations, Industrial District Management requirements, and APG global standards while driving Behavioral-Based Safety (BBS) culture and achieving TRFR/TSR targets.
- Lead IMS activities, including ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 audits, departmental documentation support, and continuous improvement through proactive reporting, safety kaizens, Gemba walks, and awareness initiatives for employees and contractors.
- Conduct daily safety inspections, permit and 5S audits, verify closure of non‑conformities, review HIRARC regularly, and drive mitigation of unacceptable risks using hierarchy-of-controls principles.
- Manage safety governance processes such as OH&S/BBS committee meetings, PTW and contractor safety systems, TBT sessions, and timely submission/analysis of monthly TOP reports and sustainability metrics.
- Deliver EHS trainings, coordinate safety and sustainability events, support emergency preparedness (systems upkeep and mock drills), monitor scrap disposal compliance, and oversee ETP operations for accuracy and regulatory alignment.
- Conduct audits at depots/OPCs; track safety KPIs; coordinate with vendors for CAPEX/REVEX proposals; and ensure timely project execution within approved budget limits.
Specification
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
- Additional certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, Lead Auditor (ISO 9001/14001/45001) preferred.
Experience
- 3–7 years of experience in EHS/OHS roles within manufacturing, industrial, or FMCG environments.
- Hands-on experience in IMS (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001) audits and documentation.
- Proven background in driving BBS programs, safety inspections, and contractor safety management.
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of statutory OHS, environmental regulations, and compliance frameworks.
- Skilled in Risk Assessment, HIRARC, PTW system, incident investigation, and root-cause analysis.
- Experience with sustainability metrics (SWC NP, SEG, SHW, rainwater usage).
- Knowledge of ETP processes, effluent testing standards, and chemical handling requirements.
- Ability to develop safety training content, conduct TBTs, and implement safety improvement projects.
Behavioral & Soft Skills
- Excellent communication skills for training, awareness sessions, and cross-functional coordination.
- Strong analytical ability for reporting, data analysis, and performance tracking.
- Proactive, detail‑oriented, and capable of driving a safety-first culture.
- Good negotiation and vendor management skills for CAPEX/REVEX projects.
- Ability to influence teams and ensure timely closure of safety gaps.
Physical & Operational Requirements
- Comfortable performing daily plant inspections, audits, and field verifications.
- Ability to respond to emergencies, coordinate drills, and manage firefighting equipment upkeep.
- Willingness to travel to depots, OPCs, and other company sites as needed.
