The Office of the Controller of the Examination, Tribhuvan University today published the exam schedule of bachelors’ first year for seven Tarai districts.

As per the schedule, the exams will be held from December 10 to 22.

As per TU calendar, bachelor’s first year examinations was scheduled to begin from September 20 but were postponed due to unrest in the Tarai. However, bachelor’s first year examinations in other districts across the country has already been concluded.

All the academic activities have been halted since past three months in Tarai districts due to the ongoing agitation by Tarai based parties. Almost all schools remain shut while teachers have been found participating in the agitation.

A monitoring report recently released by the National Human Rights Commission says that the ongoing agitation has violated children’s right to education.

The exams were postponed in Saptari, Siraha, Dhanusa, Sarlahi, Rautahat, Bara and Parsa districts after campus chiefs said conditions were not favourable for exams, said examination controller Keshav Raj Bastola.

“Annual exams of regular and exempted students of humanities, management, law and education were postponed upon request from campus chiefs in these districts,” said Bastola.

He further said that even the Higher Secondary Education Board and Council for Technical and Vocational Training had already conducted exams in these districts and hence OCE was under pressure to conduct exams in these districts.

The exams are scheduled to begin from 7 am to 10 am. He informed that there are around 10,000 students in these seven districts.

Similarly, the OCE has also published the exam schedule of masters’ first year. According to OCE, the Master’s first year exam will be held from December 6 to 22 across the country.
