Every year, students enrolled in Grade XI at institutional educational institutions under its authority are given the opportunity to apply for scholarships through the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC).

The Kathmandu Metropolitan Scholarship (KMC) invites students who wish to study under the scholarship quota to apply for the scholarships which will be awarded based on an examination. There will be 100 objective multiple-choice questions on the examination, which will be based on the secondary curriculum for Grade 10. The total duration of the exam will be two hours. 

The scholarship program, which has been running for the last few years, aims to support academically capable students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
