TU appointment
The Tribhuvan University today appointed professor P Kharel as the chief of Central Department of Journalism and Mass Communications for four years. Prof Kharel joined office from today amid a function at Ratna Rajya Laxmi Campus. He pledged to utilise his experience and ability for equipping the department with quality education and resourcefulness. Other members of the department expressed their expectations that the department would leap forward during his tenure.
Prof Kharel has over 30 years of experience as a practising journalist as well as media academic. He served as editor-in-chief of The Rising Nepal from1994 to 1996. He is a prominent media critic and columnist on national and international issues. Prof Kharel has edited and co-authored more than 15 media-related books. Currently he is the chairperson of Nepal Press Institute.
