On September 19, 2023, Nepal commemorated National Education Day 2080 by honoring 962 individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the nation's educational landscape. This was announced by the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology on Tuesday, along with an official list of the awardees.

To commemorate the Day, the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology has formed a main celebration committee led by Minister Ashok Rai. The ministry is organizing a program in which various personalities will be awarded the 'Nepal Bidyabhushan Honor' in the 'a', 'b', and 'c' categories, as well as institutes, teachers, and employees.

A total of 90 PhD recipients will be awarded the 'a' class honor, while 71 Masters' Level recipients will receive the 'b' class honor, and 44 Graduate Level recipients will receive the 'c' class honor. Similarly, Chhatra Bidya Padak will be honored as part of the program.

However, because the event's budget was allocated late, the ministry stated that only prizes would be distributed for the time being, with medals being provided later. The names of those receiving the awards have also been made public by the ministry. This year, the awards 'Nepal Prabidhi Bidya Bhusan' and 'Social Welfare Education Prize' have been added. A total of 177 people have been recognized. Every year on Asoj 2, the National Education Day is observed.
