The educational expos to be organised by the domestic and foreign agencies in Nepal are also to be brought under the tax domain.

The trend of organising educational expos is on the rise in Nepal lately. At a time when capital flight and brain drain from Nepal have surged with such events and complaints are being made that the organisers even do not pay any tax, the government is preparing to make the educational expos well-managed.

Secretary at Education Ministry Som Lal Subedi said the Ministry has sent a proposal to Finance Ministry to bring the educational expos under the ambit of tax.

The exhibitions by foreign educational agencies are high in number than the ones by domestic organisations. In the last month only, the British and Indian educational expos had taken place in Nepal.

Though the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is aware about the expos organised by foreign embassy or government agent, it has no information about the events organised under the aegis of private companies.

There is high chance of tax evasion when Nepal's government authorities are not informed about such events. However, according to tax policy of Inland Revenue Office, tax is liable to the trade of any goods and services.
