Our work in Nepal is focused on innovative media and communication initiatives that are strengthening democracy, supporting media ecosystems and tackling information disorder - while supporting communities to prepare for, and adapt to, extreme climate risks.

BBC Media Action is implementing various initiatives in Nepal. As part of these project, BBC Media Action initiatives focus on creating simple, engaging and impactful digital content that shares knowledge, stories and positive impact on people’s lives. BBC Media Action Nepal Office is seeking applications from qualified and motivated candidates for the position of “Digital Producer”. The ideal candidate will work full time across projects and will bring creativity, technical expertise, and a strong commitment to social impact through digital media.

Position: Digital Producer
- Reports to (title): Head of Editorial and Production
- Location: Base Kathmandu with possible travel to field locations
- Organisation structure: The Digital Producer will report to the Head of Editorial and Production

Job Purpose
The Digital Producer will be responsible for production and post-production related work including but not limited to recording, filming, video editing, and script writing.

Main Duties
The Digital Producer’s key responsibilities include:
- Writing scripts and developing compelling narratives for digital content targeting general audiences, donors, and other stakeholders.
- Recording audio and filming high-quality videos for a range of digital outputs.
- Editing videos footage into engaging broadcast-ready digital content.
- Undertaking post-production activities, including content packaging and formatting for different digital platforms.
- Experimenting with creative formats, tools, and approaches to maximize audience reach and impact.
- Coordinate with project teams, media partners, and stakeholders to ensure consistent messaging and content.
- Providing technical guidance, mentoring and capacitybuilding support to local partners to strengthen their digital media production skills.
- Performing other duties as assigned by the line manager.

Essential skills and experience
- Demonstrated skills and experience in handling camera operation and recording high-quality footage.
- Strong command of digital editing tools and software.
- Technical capacity to produce digital media outputs for different platforms.
- Demonstrated ability in scripting, storytelling, filming, editing, and post‑production.
- Experience in organizing and managing the production process efficiently
- Ability to deliver under tight timelines while balancing competing priorities.
- Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies, emerging trends and production challenges.
- Experience in mentoring or training teams and partners in digital production techniques.
- Flexibility, creativity and ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a multicultural team.

Desired Skills and/or Qualifications
- Understanding of media ecosystems and trends within Nepal and globally.
- Awareness and understanding of Nepal’s diverse cultural and social context, with the ability to produce inclusive, respectful and culturally sensitive content.
- Ability to analyze audience behaviour, media consumption patterns, and apply insights to content development and strategy
- Familiarity with emerging digital platforms, social media dynamics, AI applications, and Search Engine Optimazation (SEO) strategies.
