Nepal Medical Council (NMC) was established in 2020 BS (1964 AD) by the act of Parliament. The primary role of the Council has been to register qualified doctors to the Register of NMC and allow them to practice safe modern medicine.

Nepal Medical Council (NMC) has published result of Nepal Medical Council license examination (NMCLE). The Medical Licensing Exam was held from May 26 to May 29, 2026 (Jestha 12–15, 2083).

The Nepal Medical Council Licensing Exam (NMCLE) is a significant assessment conducted by the Nepal Medical Council.

According to the NMC, overall 66.95 percent of the examinees have passed with 63.5 percent in medical and 81.52 percent in dental.

A total of 2271 candidates from MBBS and BDS programs had applied for the exam, but 8 were absent. In the MBBS category, 1837 candidates had applied, of whom 1830 appeared for the exam. Only 1162 candidates (63.50%) passed.

Similarly, in the BDS category, 434 candidates applied, 433 appeared, and just 353 candidates (81.52%) were able to pass.

According to results, applicants who completed their degrees at domestic medical colleges in Nepal outperformed those who attended foreign universities.

Top Performing Domestic Medical(MBBS)/Dental (BDS) Colleges
With a 93.10% pass percentage in the MBBS category, Chitwan Medical College topped the list, closely followed by the Nepalese Army Institute of Health Sciences at 89.77% and the B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) at 92.21%.
