Course Description:

The main aim of this program is to prepare competent and transformative teachers, teacher trainers, teacher educators, education leaders, material developers and researchers who could contribute for the development of education in the country. They will be able to follow the latest principles and methodology in teaching, undertake small scale research to improve their own pedagogical skill, design and deliver short term teacher development packages for teachers, develop appropriate curricula, textbooks, modules and projected and non-projected materials, and educate pre-service and in-service teachers for effective teaching.

Admission info

Eligibility for Enrollment: For enrollment to the two-year M. Ed. program, those having a B.Ed. /PGDE/BA/BSc in a relevant area will be eligible candidates. However, those having a BA or BSc will have to take extra courses as specified by the School of Education.

Syllabus

Program Structure
The program is of four semesters. Apart from 47-credit hours of taught courses, students will undertake a 6-credit research dissertation and a 3-credit internship/practicum.

Courses
The taught courses have been divided into three categories: core, foundation and professional courses. Core courses are common to all M. Ed. students. Foundation courses have been designed to develop a conceptual understanding of key mathematical ideas while the professional courses are to increase the professionalism among the graduates in the areas of teaching, educating and researching. The focus of the internship/practicum is to enhance the professional skills and knowledge that are learnt on campus.
