Course Description:

The BE Mechanical Engineering program from Pokhara University aims to provide Nepali students with access to high-quality mechanical engineering education within the country.
The four-year program is spread over eight semesters with a total of 130 credit hours. The program’s goal is to produce competent professionals who can contribute to Nepal’s infrastructure and technological development.

With the rising demand for mechanical engineers in hydropower, energy, design, automation, manufacturing, and industrial sectors, Pokhara university launched this program.

Graduates will be equipped for careers in hydropower, manufacturing, infrastructure development, and renewable energy sectors within Nepal, as well as in international fields such as automotive, aerospace, robotics, and smart manufacturing.

Admission info

Eligibility
1. Candidates must have studied at least one course on Physics (P), Chemistry (C), and Mathematics (M) and completed the SLC (class 12) examination of NEB or equivalent level from a recognized academic institution.
2. Candidates must have scored a minimum of 45% or a CGPA of 2 (in a scale of 4) and at least Grade C (at least Grade D in case of A-level) or 45% in each subject (P, C, and M). The minimum criteria for Grade C (in case of A-level: Grade D) do not apply for extra courses, if any.
3. Candidates must have secured at least 100 marks in mathematics in the SLC (class 12) examination of NEB or equivalent level.
4. Candidates who are awaiting the results of class 12 or equivalent in the science stream can also apply.

Syllabus

The BE Mechanical Engineering program curriculum is designed not only to cover traditional areas but also to include modern fields such as automation and robotics, Industry 4.0, and machine learning. Students will gain practical skills through project-based learning, hands-on training, and direct engagement with national and local industries.

In the initial semesters, students will study core subjects such as engineering drawing, thermodynamics, mechanics, and workshop technology, while advanced courses in robotics, automotive technology, energy and environment, and design will be offered in later years. The curriculum also includes three elective courses, a minor project, a major project in two phases, and a compulsory 12-week internship.
