Course Description:

Tribhuvan University Bachelor of Arts in Sociology (BA Sociology)  program aims to impart the students with up-to-date knowledge in Sociology. The course course aims to begin students’ exposure to theoretical, methodological and empirical debates in the discipline and about different facets of Nepali society.

The course has the following specific objectives:
- to inculcate students in sociological perspectives, approaches and methods,
- to enhance students’ ability to recognize and analyze underlying social-structural dynamics at work behind any social event or process,
- to provide students basic skills and analytical ability in understanding different aspects and dynamics of Nepalese society, and finally
- to develop semi-professional human resources to serve the country’s developmental aspirations.

It also provides the knowledge and skills required to undertake research in the field of sociology and anthropology.

The course provides opportunities for employment in research organizations, NGOs, government agencies, community development projects, social work, teaching, and consultancy. Graduates can contribute to addressing social issues, conducting research, implementing policies, and promoting social justice in Nepalese society.
