Nepalese Army Institute of Health Sciences (NAIHS) is a not-for-profit medical education endeavor of the Welfare Fund of the Nepali Army established with a vision of developing skilled and professional human resources in the field of medical education by providing an optimal educational environment and improve the quality of medical service of Nepali Army and nation as a whole. It is managed by the Directoriate of Welfare Planning of Nepali Army. Its advisory committee comprises of all relevant directoriates of the Nepali Army under the leadership of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS).

NAIHS operates under the affiliation of Tribhuvan University, Nepal’s oldest and most prestigious university. This institution is recognized by Medical Education Commission, Nepal Medical Council, Nepal Nursing Council and Nepal Health Professional Council. These affiliations ensure that the programs offered are of high academic and professional standards.

NAIHS ensures medical education to the children of regular and retired army personnel, heroic death or death in line of duty and fully disabled army personnel as well as general public with the provision of fixed quotas. Under its two colleges (College of Medicine and College of Nursing) NAIHS currently caters super specialization (DM/MCH), Post Graduate (MD/MS/MN) courses & Bachelor level programs (MBBS, B.Sc. Nursing, BNS, BPH and B.Sc. MLT).

The Nepalese Army Institute of Health Sciences -College of Medicine (NAIHS-COM), situated in Sanobharyang, Bhandarkhal, Kathmandu, stands as a premier institution dedicated to producing highly skilled medical professionals.  NAIHS-COM aims to provide quality medical education, thereby contributing to the nation's healthcare system. The College of Medicine of NAIHS (NAIHS-COM) offers Bachelors, Masters, DM/MCh level academic programs under the affiliation of Institute of Medicine-Tribhuvan University and fellowship trainings under affiliation of Nepal Medical Council.

The College of Nursing (NAIHS-CON),which was established in the September 2010, has succeeded in developing a unique environment and infrastructure to deliver education of truly global standards.

Infrastructure and Facilities
NAIHS boasts state-of-the-art infrastructure and facilities to provide a conducive learning environment: Shree Birendra Hospital (SBH), established in 1990 and located in Chhauni, Kathmandu, serves as the primary teaching hospital for the Nepalese Army Institute of Health Sciences (NAIHS). This 635-bed tertiary-level facility is a central and referral hospital under the Nepal Army Medical Corps, providing comprehensive medical services to serving and retired army personnel, their families, and civilian staffs. SBH plays a pivotal role in the clinical education of NAIHS-COM students, offering hands-on training in various specialties.
