Amrit Science Campus (ASCOL), Nepal's First Science Campus, originally known as Public Science College (PUSCOL), was named after its founder principal and a Chemistry Professor, the late Amrit Prasad Pradhan who established this institution in an attempt to promote the study of science and technology in Nepal. It is a government science campus, under Tribhuvan University Institute of Science and Technology.
The campus is located in the heart of Kathmandu metropolis, with its noteworthy presence at Lainchaur and Thamel. The college has already transcended sixty years of its enduring journey. Initially, established for intermediate levels in sciences, this college started graduate programs in 1968 and postgraduate programs in 1991.
The Campus has produced some of the best technical personnel who are currently engaged in various development initiatives both domestically and internationally. With more than 1900 students enrolled for their higher educational studies, the Amrit Campus has been successful in imparting paramount knowledge and quality education for graduate and postgraduate degrees. ASCOL is considered to be one of the best institutions of science in Nepal, providing research-based education in such areas as physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, computer science, and environmental science.
