Course Description:

The Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGD Education) of Tribhuvan University aims to equip aspiring educators with the necessary skills for teaching in Nepal. The programme serves as fundamental teacher training, sensitizing and orienting teachers/prospective teachers to the core aspects of their profession.

The course aims to provide pedagogical training to prospective teachers and those currently teaching at the basic and secondary levels. Individuals willing to obtain this degree must have had a bachelor's degree or equivalent.  The course is structured into three semesters, aiming to provide students with a comprehensive and well-organized educational experience. The course emphasizes pedagogical knowledge and methodological skills essential for teaching specific subjects at the secondary level.

This program has replaced the earlier 12-month one-year B.Ed. programme.

Upon completion of theorical and practical courses of PGDE from campus, student teachers will participate in internship in the selected schools for at least six months. In this way, the PGDE programme is designed to meet the professional development needs of teachers in upper basic and secondary schools by employing critical and participatroy pedagogy, engaging students in hands-on practical activities, and utlilizing digital technologies.

Admission Requirement
The candidates who wish to get admission to FOE must sit for the entrance examination for master's and M.Phil. programmes. Those who have completed their grade 12/higher secondary education, or equivalent, are eligible for the four-year B.Ed. Programme. However, the Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) programme in social studies subjects is open to those having a Bachelor's degree in social science and other relevant subjects.

Eligibility Criteria for PGD Education

Science Education
- Eligibility: Bachelor's degree in Science (B.Sc., B.Sc. Ag, B.Sc. Forestry) or an equivalent qualification.

Mathematics Education
- Eligibility: Bachelor's degree in Mathematics (B.A., B.Sc., or equivalent).

English Education
- Eligibility:Bachelor's degree in English or an equivalent qualification.

Nepali Education
- Bachelor's degree in Nepali or an equivalent qualification.

Educational Administration and Supervision Education
- Eligibility:Bachelor's degree in any subject or an equivalent qualification.

Information and Communication Technology Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or Bachelor in Computer Application, or an equivalent qualification.

Economics Education
- Eligibility:Bachelor's degree in Economics, Management, or an equivalent qualification.

Social Studies Education
- Eligibility:Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences or an equivalent qualification.

History Education
- Eligibility:Bachelor's degree in History or an equivalent qualification.

Geography Education
- Eligibility:Bachelor's degree in Geography, Environmental Science, Population, or an equivalent qualification.

Political Science Education
- Eligibility:Bachelor's degree in Political Science or an equivalent qualification.

Population Education
- Eligibility:Bachelor's degree in Population Studies, Geography, or an equivalent qualification.

Health and Physical Education
- Eligibility:Bachelor's degree in Medicine, Sport Science, or any subject with training/experience in sports, or an equivalent qualification.

Inclusive Education
- Eligibility:Bachelor's degree in any subject or an equivalent qualification.
