Course Description:

Kathmandu University, Master’s in Social Innovation & Entrepreneurship (MSIE) is a 15-months program, designed for purpose-driven learners who want more than a conventional degree. It is ideal for those passionate about social innovation, entrepreneurship, research, industry engagement, or global pathways — all while staying deeply rooted in Nepal’s social and cultural contexts.

Spanning five trimesters, the program unfolds across Nepal’s three major geographical regions -Terai (Madhesh), Pahad, and Himal. Students spend 10 weeks in each region through intensive community immersions, followed by a six-month capstone project focused on Research, Industry, Entrepreneurship, or Global Pathways.

The programme also integrates entrepreneurship, social sciences and technology with broader social wellbeing through an interdisciplinary approach. The programme would help students identify opportunities within Nepal, address real-world problems and develop meaningful community-based solutions. The programme places particular emphasis on “communities, nature and villages” at a time when society is rapidly moving toward technology, algorithms and urbanisation.
