Course Description:
MD in Psychiatry programme was started by Department of Psychiatry & Mental Health of Tribhuvan University, Institute of Medicine in 1977. The three-year MD (Psychiatry) programme will prepare a resident to acquire the knowledge, skills and attitude required of him /her and to acquire the competencies to manage mental health problems independently.
On completion of the MD Psychiatry residency programme, the candidate will be able to provide comprehensive and effective management of mental health problem encountered in Nepal independently.

Eligibility
- MBBS or equivalent from institutions recognized by the government of Nepal
- Registered in Nepal Medical Council
- Registered in the respective medical council of the applicant's own country for foreign candidates
- One year experience (Except for MDGP and MD/MS in Basic Medical Sciences excluded)
- Candidate should score a minimum of 50% (Pass Marks) in the Entrance Examinations conducted by Medical Education Commission for being eligible to be on the merit list
