Bachelor of English and Communication Studies (BECS) is a four-year undergraduate program at the School of Development and Social Engineering (SDSE), Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Pokhara University, that aims to provide students with a strong foundation in the study of English language and literature, as well as communication studies. Bachelor of English and Communication Studies is a four years course having eight semesters (two semesters per year) with 120 credits with the following major courses:
> Literary studies and literature; Literary theories and criticism
> Logic and critical thinking; critical and creative writing,
> Written and oral communication: public speaking; inter-personal communication; intercultural communication, English in workplace; international business communications
> Written skills: writing for media; tourism, culture; country promotion; film radio television; journalism; analysing text; copy editing
> English language: past, present and future; introduction to linguistics
> History of science; history of knowledge
> Language, culture and society; Nepal studies; civic responsibility; diversity and ethnicity; cultural anthropology; law
> Research methodology in communication studies; conference interpretation and translation;
> Computer application
> Project work and internship

Project Work
Students are required to go for language and communication exposure. In the fourth year, students will carry out an intensive project work focusing on communication. During the project work students will learn practical aspects of English language and communication so that they would be able to bridge University learning with professional practice and beyond. At the end of the project work, students will prepare a report and present their work in a seminar.
