Course Description:

The Bachelor of Data Science (BDSc) program of Kathmandu University integrates research activities, discussions, lectures, and teaching at various levels. The entire course is highly participatory and practice-oriented. The didactics of core courses and workshops are designed in a highly participatory and practice-oriented manner. The interactive learning environment combines theory and practice through modern didactics.

Data Science is a rapidly growing and versatile interdisciplinary field. This course aims to familiarize students with the various components of a comprehensive Data Science project and the process of developing, implementing, and evaluating it. After completing this course, students will be prepared to begin the process of comprehensive Data Science. The course objective is to help students understand the significance of Data Science.

Admission info

Eligibility:
- Must have taken PCM (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics) or PMCs (Physics, Mathematics and Computer Science) in both XI and XII (or equivalent)
- Minimum aggregate GPA of 2.0 or Aggregate 50% in percentage scale

Candidates are required to appear in the Kathmandu University, School of Science Admission Test, in either PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) or PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology), according to their choice of academic program. The Entrance Exam will be conducted in the mode of Paper Based Test (PBT). Admission offer list will be published on merit basis.

Syllabus

The 120-credit hour BDSC program combines Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, and Business Intelligence. The initial two years focus on computing, covering topics like coding, graphics, systems, networks, and databases.
