Course Description:

The Bachelor of Arts Bachelor of Laws (BA LLB),a five-year full-time course, at the School of Development and Social Engineering at Pokhara University is designed to provide students with an understanding of legal principles and practices, as well as the social, economic, and political contexts in which they operate.
The course covers a broad range of subjects, including legal theory, constitutional law, criminal law, commercial law, family law, and environmental law. Students will also have the opportunity to undertake practical training through internships and moot court competitions.

The main objective of the BA LLB program is to produce graduates with a deep understanding of legal principles and practices, as well as the ability to critically analyze legal issues and communicate effectively.

Graduates of the B.A.LL.B. program will be able to communicate in the legal profession, interpret and apply laws, investigate niche opportunities in the legal sector, specialising in legal areas of interest, and succeed in legal employment. Students will become vital assets to any company in various sectors, including litigation, government service, business offices, and international and non-governmental organizations.

Eligibility
The followings are the main requirements to study BALLB at Pokhara University.
> Any person (Nepali citizen or Foreigner) can apply for admission to the program.
> A student who has passed School Level Certificate Education (SLCE) / (10+2) level or any other equivalent degree in any subject with a minimum grade ‘D+’ in each subject (for the student who has passed the SLCE from NEB till 2078 BS) or a minimum grade ‘D’ in each subject (for the student who has passed the SLCE from NEB in 2079 BS) with a minimum CGPA of 1.6 in aggregate in a 4.0-grade point system or pass division from a recognized board.
> Applicants are selected from a merit list of entrance examinations conducted by the faculty.

Syllabus

The B.A.LL.B. Curriculum consists of compulsory and elective courses. The compulsory courses have been tailored to provide sufficient grounding in the principal branches of the law. Elective courses, on the other hand, amplify students’ understanding of particular branches of the law. Normally, one credit is equivalent to one hour of lecture per week per semester. The minimum number of class hours for a course of three credit hours in a semester is approximately 48 hours.
