When the college was established, it served the long-felt need of the Nepalese students to secure quality technical education at the graduate level, within the country itself. The last few years, however, have seen several engineering colleges coming up all over Nepal, but the lead that nec has established can only widen further.
nec takes pride in the fact that it has been successful in earning a high reputation for excellence within a very short span of time, since its establishment in 1994. It has developed its own facilities to run the Engineering and Architecture programs and is moving forward at a rapid pace. nec is the most reputed institution in the private sector in Nepal, offering B.E. and B.Arch. degrees under the affiliation of Pokhara University.
nec is situated on the bank of the river Manohara at Changunarayan, Bhaktapur. Changu offers a pleasant panoramic view of the beautiful valley of Kathmandu. nec has been making all out efforts to develop the necessary physical and academic infrastructure within its own campus of about ten hectares of land at Changunarayan. The college has plans to acquire more land to feed its continuous expansion plans.
NEC also operates from Balkumari Centre from where the graduate programs, M.Sc. (Construction Management) and M.Sc. (Natural Resources Management) as well as the B.E. (Civil) program for serving diploma engineers are being run.
