 The Peace Corps program in Nepal places American Volunteers in two-year assignments in villages and towns across the country.

POSITION: Food Security Program & Training Specialist, Personal Services Contractor

BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION
Peace Corps is seeking experienced and qualified applicants for the full time contracted position of Food Security Program & Training Specialist.

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Programming and Training (DPT), and the Deputy Program Director (DPD), the Food Security Program & Training Specialist (FSPTS) is responsible for assisting to provide technical support to Peace Corps/Nepal’s Food Security project and related training activities. The role includes providing technical support to Volunteers on food and nutrition security, facilitating technical training and developing technical resources and networks. The FSPTS also support on the project plan preparation and implementation, Volunteer site development and monitoring and evaluation. The FSPTS provides technical and cultural guidance to help Volunteers become self-sufficient in their work assignments. She/he serves as the primary contact for technical food security matters and Volunteer support, and coordinates his/her work with the DPD.


The FSPTS represents the Peace Corps to local host-country agencies as delegated by the DPT/DPD. The FSPTS will be required to travel as needed to support training events, conduct site development, provide direct support to PCVs, or to address other PC needs, and may need to travel internationally to participate in trainings for Peace Corps staff. The FSPTS will travel and be resident at PC/Nepal trainings to lead and oversee technical training, including at PreService Training (PST) and In-Service Trainings (ISTs).

The FSPTS must use a range of support and communication skills including active listening, interactive coaching, and timely and consistent follow through on requests for support and/or assistance and/or program adaptations. The FSPTS should foster and develop personal and professional growth, celebrate accomplishments, promote best practices and consistently champion the efforts of all Trainees, Volunteers and staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
> University Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or related field, plus a minimum of FOUR years of related work experience.
Master’s Degree in Agriculture and or related field preferred
> Minimum of 4 years of related work experience, preferably with American or international organizations, and preferably organizations that achieve their mission through volunteerism. Related work experience to include: managing volunteers or staff, managing health or agriculture projects, grassroots community development, designing training programs and/or workshops, training session design and delivery, monitoring and evaluation. .
> Fluent, both English and Nepali (written and spoken)
> Demonstrated good interpersonal skills and ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision
> Must meet US Embassy security clearance requirements.


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
> Master’s Degree in Agriculture and or related field, 2 years’ experience in supervising or coordinating staff or volunteers. Ability to speak other languages spoken in Nepal.

Vacancy notice 2:
Short term contract positions are available for Nepali citizens who would like to support the U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer Pre-Service Training (PST). Applicants must be willing to live in a village outside of the Kathmandu valley from approximately the second week of March 2018 through second week of June 2018 (selected candidates must work at the training site during festival holidays that occur during training period).

Training Administrative Assistant (TAA): Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in Business studies. A sound knowledge in accounting/book keeping required. Computer skills in Excel and word are essential. Must be able to write and speak in English. Submit application by Submit application by September 26, 2017.

Training Driver: Must have working knowledge of English, High School or Vocational School Diploma preferred. Must have valid Driving License. Minimum 3 years work experience, with driving on mountain roads outside Kathmandu Valley. Must be competent in driving laws and regulations; familiarity with local traffic laws and regulations; and have a safe driving record. Basic auto repair and maintenance skills. Ability to make sound safety and security-driven decisions regarding weather and road conditions for countryside travel to ensure safety of passengers. Submit application by September 26, 2017.


Technical Training Assistant (TTA): Must be proficient in English. Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture or Intermediate in Agriculture (I.Sc. Ag.) with three years’ work experience. Knowledge and experience on Nutrition education will be plus. Strong coordination and excellent computer skills required. Submit application by September26, 2017.

Language/Culture Facilitators (LCFs): Bachelor’s degree in any subject. Excellent written and spoken Nepali and English. Nepali language teaching experience preferred. Demonstrated understanding of American and Nepali culture will be advantageous. Submit application by October 6, 2017.
