ICA was established in 1997 and has been providing educational services to the nation since then. In 2002, it became the first Partner Institution (PI) of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) in Nepal. The study center is approved by the Ministry of Education, Government of Nepal. It is also the only educational institution from Nepal to become the member of Asian Association of Open Universities (AAOU) It has been providing internationally acclaimed degrees through the Distance Mode of education.
ICA presently offers 41 programs in Management, Humanities & Social Science, Tourism, Computer Science, Journalism and Mass Communication, Education, Rural Development and Health Science. Currently, the cumulative student strength of ICA is more than 1200. The learners enrolled in ICA are freshers or professionals from diverse fields such as Hospitality industry, Financial Institutions, Telecommunication, Corporate Houses, Embassies and Diplomatic agencies etc. ICA has signed an agreement with World Health Organization, Nepal to provide scholarship to the students enrolled in Certificate in Health Care Waste Management Program.

ICA offers a unique opportunity to study and work simultaneously. More than 600 learners have successfully completed their graduation, under-graduation, post graduation, diploma and certificate level programs. Due to the dedication of the faculty members, members of the staff and the hard work of the learners, the success rate of the students is always very high. ICA is also proud of its Six University Gold Medalists in the faculty of Management, Tourism Studies, Computer Science and Health Education, Sociology, Rural Development.
