Dance is an art form that generally refers to movement of the body, usually rhythmic and to music used as a form of expression, social interaction or presented in a spiritual or performance setting. It is an extremely intricate art requiring skill, hard work and discipline. All dances portray some expression of life. Dance can also be regarded as a form of nonverbal communication between humans, and sometimes between other animals. The art of dance incorporates classical dance, drama, music and mime to create an integrated performing art. For years and years, dancers have used their bodies to express ideas, stories, and rhythm. Many different kind of dance allow them to move freely and express themselves, such as classical, modern dance, and dance styles specific to cultures.


If one thinks of opting for a career in dance the most important thing to remember is that it is not an easy option. The complexities of the dance profession are such that you must consider many variables before setting off on this long but worthwhile path towards a career in dance. There are avenues of careers connected with dancing. Some of them are: Dancer, dance teacher, choreographer, dance sports player/coach, and dance therapist. As dance is very exhausting and requires a lot from the body, most dancers end their performing careers by their late thirties. Nevertheless, a few continue their careers in dance as choreographers, dance instructors and coaches, or artistic directors while others go into administration, such as managing.
