At present, higher education in Nepal is offered by six universities: Tribhuwan University (TU), Mahendra Sanskrit University (MSU), Lumbini Bauddha University (LBU), Kathmandu University (KU), Purbanchal University (PurU) and Pokhara University (PokhU). In addition to these, there are two more academic institutions viz. BP Koirala Institute of Health Science (BPKIHS) and National Academy of Medical Science (NAMS) that run medical courses of undergraduate and post graduate levels.
